The regional environment office has awarded a five-year grant to the Centre for Coastal Ecology & Conservation to lead saltmarsh restoration across three estuary sites.

Fieldwork places will be open to students from Ecology & Conservation and Environmental Science every survey season, and the centre's long-term monitoring dataset will be published openly as the programme proceeds.

Restoration begins with sediment profiling in the spring, followed by the first planting rounds in early summer.
